If you’re considering a breast augmentation procedure, also commonly known as breast implants, then this blog post is for you. From what to expect in your consultation, to aftercare and common questions – Cosmedic & Skin Clinic want you to feel comfortable and informed every step of the way.

Choosing Implants

We can assist you in choosing the right implants for your desired outcome, as well as being balanced with your body shape for a natural result. To choose the right implant, there are a few factors to consider:

  • Volume & width of implants
  • Shape & profile of implants
  • Natural chest dimensions
  • Strength of natural breast tissue to hold weight of implants

Your body is individual and there’s no set formula to choosing the right implants, so we’ll take some measurements and make an expert assessment of your body and breast tissue to ensure we choose the right options together.

Cost

The cost of a breast augmentation with Cosmedic & Skin Clinic is $5,700 – this includes your consultation, surgical fee, cost of implants, hospital and anesthetist fees and aftercare.

Recovery

Breast augmentation is performed as a day surgery, so you’ll be able to go home to recover on the same day. We usually hear from our patients that they feel much less pain than they were anticipating – you’ll be able to shower and do minor activities from your first day post-operation. Most people return to normal activities (such as work, shopping, other daily tasks) after two weeks, although you won’t be able to go to the gym or jog for six weeks.

Scarring

The scar is placed underneath the breast fold, as it’s the most inconspicuous place and is difficult to see. All scars heal differently, so we will advise on the best aftercare methods and products to use for your body.

Combination of Treatments

It can sometimes be necessary (or desired) to combine breast augmentation with a breast lift (mastopexy) or a nipple reduction. We can assist you in deciding if combining procedures is an appropriate option for you.

Common Questions

We receive a number of frequent questions around breast augmentation and have provided some answers below to assist you with your decision. If you have any further questions, we’d love to answer them. Please don’t hesitate to contact us on 07 5588 4777.

What cup size will I be?

This one is hard to answer as the same size implants may give different results and bra manufacturers don’t have consistent sizing. It’s best to wait until after your procedure to purchase new items.

Do I still need to wear a bra?

Not always, but it’s important to consider that a heavier breast will often need more support to retain its shape.

Can I breastfeed if I have implants?

Yes, you can.

Potential Risks

One of the most important elements of the procedure is the consultation. During your consultation with Dr Flynn, we’ll help you to understand what’s involved in the surgery and aftercare, the benefits and any potential risks or complications.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should consider seeking a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
