Here at Cosmedic & Skin Clinic, we understand that it can be intimidating to start exploring cosmetic procedures. After all, there’s a lot of information out there! We believe the best place to start is don’t concentrate on what kind of procedure you want, but what changes you want to achieve. This will help guide your expectations and assist us to help identify the right treatment for you. In this mini-guide, we’ve covered what to expect from the team at Cosmedic & Skin Clinic during your first consultation.

Setting up a Consultation

You don’t need a referral from your GP for a consultation with Cosmedic & Skin Clinic. If you’d like to book a consult or ask us some questions, you can contact us by phone, email or the form on our website. We’d love to hear from you and help sort out your priorities and concerns so you can get best value from your visit here.

What Happens in a Consultation

Your first consultation will cover what you’re wanting to achieve or change. You’ll explain what you’re hoping for (e.g. change breast shape or improve appearance of wrinkles) and our friendly staff will discuss the options available for treatment. We can advise you about potential outcomes, as well as risks and possible complications to ensure you feel informed about every aspect of the options on the table. Then, together we will work out the most appropriate treatment or combination of treatments.  We will also help you understand whether your expectations are realistic and explain exactly what is possible to achieve for your body. You don’t have to decide on the spot – you’ll be given some information to take away and consider on your own, especially for surgical procedures. With any surgery, don’t forget there is always the possibility of complications.

How Much Time to Set Aside

A typical consultation is approximately 30-60 minutes long, depending on the issue at hand and the type of procedure you are considering. For example, a discussion about a major surgery like a tummy tuck or face lift will likely be longer than one for anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers. We recommend having at least two consultations before a major surgical procedure.

Preparing for Your Consultation

The most important thing to bring to your consultation is an open mind! You should have a relatively clear idea of what you would like to achieve before coming in and be prepared to have an honest conversation with our team about what is realistic. We recommend asking a lot of questions to ensure that you and your doctor are on the same page regarding the outcome, any follow-up treatments that could be required and potential complications.
